01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Walking into Isemoto on a quiet street corner in Kita-Otsuka, guests are quickly greeted by glasses of shochu highball filled straight to the brim. Served without ice, the drink carries a delicate hint of citrus over a robust shochu foundation, offering a crisp, unadulterated sip. Chilled bottles and draft mugs of Asahi Super Dry are also on hand for a reliable start to the night.

Hearty, generously cut offal skewers

The grilled motsu skewers anchor the menu, each featuring substantial cuts with plenty of bite. For an easy cross-section, the omakase five-skewer set delivers that day's selections cooked to order, spanning options like shiro (intestine), tongue, kashira (temple), and liver. Skewered pork harami and rich liver pick up a deep char over the grill, releasing savory meat juices and mellow fat with every bite.

Simmered tripe and dependable side plates

While waiting on skewers from the grill, a bowl of tender simmered motsu stew makes a comforting accompaniment. A clean, lightly salted broth highlights the softness of the shiro, turning especially warming when dusted with shichimi pepper. Fluffy tamagoyaki rolled like an omelette with green onions, nira-tama (chive and egg), and refreshing gatsu (pork stomach) with vinegared miso round out the classic tavern lineup.

The compact dining room consists of counter seating and a few small tables, making it an approachable stop for solo diners. Operating from 17:30 to 23:00 with Sundays off, the shop also accepts payments via PayPay.
